Welcome to Honeycoon Maine Coon and Brittasweet British Shorthair Cats. Ira and I started showing and breeding Maine Coon Cats in 1986 in Florida. We retired to North Carolina and added the British Shorthair breed to our household of pedigreed cats. For over 20 years we have been producing regional and national award winning Maine Coon and British Shorthair cats. The choice of our cattery names reflects our deep affection for these two breeds. From the start of our breeding program our efforts have been dedicated to producing healthy, genetically sound kittens with loving personalities. We have both pet and show cats, winning hearts and earning awards around the world. We have continually refined our methods and ideas about raising our kittens. They are members of our family until we place them with their new families. Some of our ideas have been in place from the beginning such as no declawing. Others have been developed over the years and we now do early spays & neuters. We have developed our own method of intensive handling from day one until they leave for their new homes. Both the British Shorthair kittens and the Maine Coon kittens benefit from this attention and the results are that they turn into very loving cats. So much so the owners of either breed frequently come back for another and refer all their friends to us. We like to ensure that new owners have all the information they will need to make a smooth transition for the kitten or cat into their new home and for themselves too. We provide reading material as well as advice for the best ways to introduce the kitten/cat to their new home. We have additional material for introductions to animals they may already have and we are always willing to help with any challenges that arise. Breeder Credentials * We are members of the Brit and the Maine Coon breed councils. * We are Breeder members of MCBFA (Maine Coon Breeders & Fanciers Association).   You must be approved and voted in to be a Breeder member. * All of our Brits have been cleared for PKD. Either our cats or their parents have been DNA    tested. * All of our breeding Maine Coon cats have been DNA tested negative for the HCM mutation.
